Reishi Mushroom Zen

A few days ago Jenny and I were leading a guided hike to the river in the National Forest near Earthshine Lodge.  I looked down an embankment and saw dozens of Reishi mushrooms bursting forth from a rotting Hemlock log.  Jenny went on to the river with the group and I made my way down to the log to get some video and a few mushrooms.  What I found was a beautiful zen-like moment that seemed to last forever…it was like time stopped.  I shot the below video of my encounter so take a look and hopefully you will get just a little bit of the tranquil zen-like state that I felt–enjoy.

Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) was used traditionally in the Americas and later in Europe as a calming herb for anxiety, insomnia, seizures, and hysteria. It is still used today to treat anxiety and insomnia. Scientists believe passionflower works by increasing levels of a chemical called gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. GABA lowers the activity of some brain cells, making you feel more relaxed.^
